OPETAW METAEHMOH MENOMINEE LANGUAGE CAMP

Named in Ingrid's honor, the Menominee Nation held it's first annual Language Camp. It was a wonderful success! The Flying Eagle Woman Fund is so very proud and honored by the tremendously incredible work done by all to make this a dream come true.

In the beautiful setting at the Museum and Historic Preservation Office on the banks

of the Wolf River at the Menominee Logging Camp campers so thoroughly enjoyed their 5 days that they didn't want to come home. They experienced exciting fun filled days with outdoor activities, new friendships, lots of learning and the creation of many happy future memories.

In total support of the Language Camp here is one of the daily messages sent to the camp by Ali and Maehki El Issa:

"This is Ali and Maehki, and we think a lot of you all in the camp. Your wonderful work reminds us of what Ingrid said about peace and human community, 'Until we make peace with the earth, there will be no peace in the human community.' Our human world and nature, given to us by the Creator, are all part of the earth. Of the human world, the youth and elders, to Ingrid, are the most precious. So what you do in the camp, learning about the Menominee language and culture, was the work that Ingrid tried to help build all around the world in the Indigenous countries. She would be so proud of every single one of you. You are the present and the future of our community. Carry on with the proud heritage handed down to you from your elders, for you are the leaders of the Menominee Nation -- and the world -- of  tomorrow.

You are on our minds, and will will surely send more thoughts later today or tomorrow. Keep enjoying the learning and growing."

As the saying goes,  a picture is worth a thousand words, so click on the
